Project CAFÉS was a collaborative effort to assess the environmental sustainability of student-run cafés at University of Chicago, and to make recommendations to further increase sustainable operations. In order to achieve its research and recommendation fulfillment goals, GCRC worked with a practicum of students led by Dr. Sabina Shaikh and received input and support from the University of Chicago’s Office of Sustainability, the University’s Center for Leadership and Involvement (CLI), Environmental, Agriculture and Food Working Group (EAF), Chicago Studies Program, Program on the Global Environment, and Public Policy Studies Program. Learn more about the project at the Environment, Agriculture and Food Working Group's website.

The Sustainable Chicago Sports Project, dubbed #GreenChiSports for ease of communication over social channels, is a public education and engagement campaign highlighting sustainability practices and conservation efforts of Chicago’s professional sports venues and teams. Using the #GreenChiSports hashtag, Chicago sports fans can learn about efforts by their favorite teams, venues, and events to care for the environment. By snapping photos around the city and at games, fans are encouraged to get in on the fun and share #GreenChiSports facts with one another over social media.
